A Refreshing Mint Chocolate Mousse
Happy National Mint Chocolate Day! Fun fact, did you know peppermint is the number one selling flavor candy outside of all chocolate flavors? Are you a fan of mint chocolate? Cause we sure are, especially with our Double Chocolate cookie shots!
Over the years, Mint Chocolate has become quite the popular choice. Whether it's as an ice cream flavor, Oreo flavor, pie, or even chocolate chip cookie flavor. The list truly goes on! Special shout out to Marilyn Ricketts who invented Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream back in 1973. We love Mint Chocolate so much that we even had to try out Mint Chocolate Ice Cream in our cookie shots this past summer, and let us tell you how delicious it was! For this easy Mint Chocolate Mousse recipe, you'll need the following ingredients to make both parts of the mousse, the chocolate mousse and the mint chocolate portion.
Ingredients:
Mint Layer
- 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1/3 Cup Powder Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
- Green Food Coloring
Chocolate Layer
- 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1/3 Cup Powder Sugar
Directions:
1. We'll be starting this recipe off by making the Mint Layer first. To do so, measure out all of your ingredients and add them into a mixing bowl. Keep in mind that you may have to adjust the coloring of your Mint Layer once your mousse has been whisked. We highly suggest to start with only a few drops of green food coloring.
2. Grab your whisk and start whisking your Mint Layer mousse together till stiff peaks are formed. You'll know they're stiff peaks when you lift your whisk up and the mousse just stays stuck to the whisk.
(*keep in mind that once your mousse has fully formed stiff peaks, whatever color your Mint Layer is then is what it will look like. So we highly suggest to adjust your color within he first few stirs! )
3. Once your Mint Layer is made, go ahead and set it aside in the refrigerator to chill.
4. Grab another mixing bowl and we're going to now work on our Chocolate Mousse filling. We'll be doing the same exact thing as our Mint Layer, but with our Chocolate Mousse ingredients. So measure all your ingredients out and whisk till stiff peaks are formed.
5. Fill 2 pipping bags up. One with Mint Layer filling and another with your Chocolate Mousse filling.
6. Snip the tips of the pipping bags and start alternating layers inside of your Dirty Cookie cookie shots! just till you reach the top of your cookie shot. Once it's been filled, go ahead and garnish your Mint Chocolate Mousse with whatever toppings you'd like!
7. Lastly, enjoy all the refreshing, yet sweet, Mint Chocolate Mousse.
This recipe would also be fantastic with our St. Patty Cookie Shots if you're looking for a fun way to spruce up your March! We sure could all use the extra luck from a single 4 leaf clover.
